Dr Sukhatme has done significant work in the area of heat transfer. He has developed and tested an original theory of interfacial resistance for heat transfer during film condensation of liquid metal vapours. He has studied local and average heat transfer around circular tubes and various fin arrays under the influence of free and forced convection. He has developed rapid methods for measuring the thermal conductivity of slab insulations.
