Dr Surajit Dhara has carried out inventive research on liquid crystals and colloids, investigated phenomena like directed assembly of colloids with tunable interactions, active colloids in liquid crystals, whispering gallery modes in liquid crystal droplets as sensitive detectors of phase transitions, discontinuous anchoring transitions and liquid crystal droplet-based tunable microresonators and microlasers.
